Yes, PLEASE Kit

I’m long overdue for highlighting another kit for Younique Scrapbook Store. My Mind’s Eye, “Yes, PLEASE” paper kit was the perfect backdrop to highlight the Surprise Birthday party we hosted for my husband’s 60th birthday. These papers and embellishments are beautifully set in black, white, cream and gold tones. Each kit contains gorgeous patterned papers, versatile stickers, 12″ x 12″ printed Chipboard Elements, “Copper Shimmer” twine and a 56 count “Mixed Bag” of embellishments to match. This collection will lend itself to showcasing many of the special moments in your life – the possibilities are endless.

Folding Star

The cut file on this page is just stunning. Once completed, this page can be displayed perfectly in a shadow box, frame or your scrapbook. Each of the folding stars are backed with papers from the Yes, PLEASE line. The extensive collection of embellishments included in this kit allow you to highlight and document any special occasion.

Hanging Banner

The falling hearts on this page were simply too beautiful to hide. I used them as the backdrop to display and build my own banner using Copper Shimmer twine as the “clothesline” that pulls it all together. The foundations on the banner are the photo frame and the stunning rosette you’ll create from additional cut files included in the kit. Several individual chipboard banners complete the end to end banner on this page. Choose to top it all off with the embellishments shown, or the pick your own from the multitude included.

Geo Globe

The Geo Globe cut file, from The Cut Shoppe is the focus of this fun page. All pieces, frame and backgrounds, are pre-cut and included in your kit. You can choose to follow my design for completion, or add your own pictures and embellishments from the kit. Truly, the possibilities with this kit are endless.

Heart Banner

The last cut file included in the kit is the “Polaroid Frame Banner Hearts”, a Paige Evans creation. I love the whimsy and flexibility of this file. It provides the opportunity to include many pictures of friends and family that attended the big event. The clothes pegs are die cut in gold to help tie the colour theme across all pages.

Like what you see? Have a special occasion you’d like to capture? Look for this kit at Younique Scrapbook Store in Mount Forest, ON. Not local – no problem, check out their website at https://shop.youniquecountryretreat.com/. Better yet, if you live in Ontario, why not attend ScrapFest in Kitchener, ON being held April 13th & 14th https://www.scrapfest.ca/Kitchener_2018/General_Info. You’ll find Younique and many other exhibitors all under one roof – it’s a crafter’s dream!

My Favourite Things – MFT Creative Olympics

Well I’ve been absent for a long time, but this event got me excited! Here’s my entry for the MFT Creative Biathlon, using masking and a slider. This card is headed to my Granddaughter who turns 7 next weekend. She’s in love with the Olympics, so I hope she’ll be excited to hear I entered her card in a contest.

I used the “You’re Super “ stamp and die set, the “Interactive Labels” stamp, sun ray stencil, stamped and water coloured with distress inks, and hooked it all up with some Chibitronics!

I started the card by stamping and masking the “boom” cloud! I used a small punch to punch out a small hole in one of the “o’s” to let the light shine through. Then I moved on to the stencil and some inking of the background. The city scenes were die cut, the sentiment was heat embossed using VersaMark warermark and white embossing powder. The cute super girl was watercoloured, and mounted on a thin layer of craft foam before adhering to the card front. Her mask and the “M” ( for Maddy), were die cut from black glitter cardstock.

The trickiest part was setting up the circuit for the Chibitronics light. The recent MFT Youtube video came to the rescue! It was slow going, but I couldn’t be more delighted with the final result. The real test will be when Maddy opens her card, can’t wait!

The BIG One!

it-was-this-big

Reminisce has released a line of fishing papers that are just gorgeous. Lucky for me, I just happened to have the “perfect” fishing photo from this summer to scrapbook! Dennis is an AVID fisherman. He spends  many weekends and much of his free time during the summer fishing. And, he is very, very good at it!

In August, Dennis was fishing close to our cottage. He dropped by to say hello, and we just had to see his catch. This picture shows the HUGE bass he caught that day – 4lbs, 4ozs! My Dad would be very impressed!

I knew when Heather posted this paper line on Facebook, I would just have to get it. I really wanted to document this moment and the “Fishing Paradise” paper was the perfect backdrop. Check out all the papers in this line – they truly are beautiful papers and stickers to scrapbook your fishing memories! You can find them all at the Younique Scrapbook Store in Mount Forest!

Beautiful Dreamer

Bo Bunny has a dreamy line of papers called Beautiful Dreamer. The colour scheme is soft, romantic and well, dreamy! The possibilities for scrapbooking and card making are endless with this line. This kit contains 3 single page layouts, and one double page layout. While the lure of riding a bike is simply not my thing (ask some of my best friends!), the bicycle patterned paper simply called my name immediately. The soft purple and green tones are warm and inviting. To raise the bar on this layout, I’ve added flowers and pearls to the bike basket and wrapped the title around the wheel of the bike. This layout was the perfect background to a recent photo of my husband and I.  I’m tickled with the overall result.

The second layout is titled “Spread Your Wings and FLY”. The backdrop for this layout is the Illusion patterned paper. Those birds and books are so interesting and visually appealing. I chose to use pictures of my granddaughter Maddy as she prepared for her final ballet recital in June. She took her set of wings, and I was lucky enough to capture a couple of quick photos before she changed her mind and took them off before the recital began. With or without wings, she made a very sweet ballerina. I love the soft feel this layout creates.

The last single layout is titled Beautiful Dreamer and uses the patterned paper by the same name. Green and burgundy pearls, brads, gold accents and organza ribbon all add to create a light and airy feel.

The final 2 page layout in this kit uses two coordinating patterned papers. You will find so many things to embellish this kit with, including a full sticker page, chipboard package,  die cut package and a 12″ x 12″ letter and number sticker sheet by Bella BLVD. For this layout, I decided to highlight our visit to the Eiffel Tower, a dream I never imagined would come true! Paris is a wonderfully romantic city, and the perfect setting for this layout.

I hope this kit inspires you to scrapbook. It’s a perfect combination for the romantic, travel or precious moments in your life. This kit will be available soon at the Younique Scrapbook store in Mount Forest.

Happy Scrappin’

Happy Birthday Margie!

Some people are extra special. Margie Dinsmore is one of those people. Margie’s played an important part in our family for…well, forever! Margie is a RN who cared for patients in the Intensive Care Unit. Not an easy job. Margie was my Grandmother’s friend. She babysat my Dad and his siblings, myself and my siblings, my children and many, many more. Not an easy job!

Margie volunteered her time over years and years to the benefit of many. She walks everywhere, choosing her feet over transportation whenever she can. She still lives on her own, as independent as she can be.

Today we celebrate her 101st Birthday! She remains a kind, selfless, loving woman. Wherever you are today, raise a glass to a remarkable woman who sets a high example of making a difference in other people’s lives.

Happy Birthday Margie, we LOVE YOU!
